"Kim Block's expertise extends beyond the walls of the classroom and into the realm of the mind/body connection. She prepared her students for the day's activities by having yoga/mindfulness sessions.
I participated in many of these, and reaped the benefits as well as observed the difference in manner and tone of the students. Students demonstrated increased ability to settle their bodies for an extended period of time, focus on instruction, participate meaningfully, take risks and ask impressive questions."
Kim Block has made an incredible difference in the lives of children and families as a volunteer at Gilda's Club Westchester for several years. During the pandemic, she helped us continue to connect and support children and teens impacted by cancer by offering virtual mindfulness workshops and yoga classes. Kim provides a warm and compassionate environment in her work that is invaluable to children and families that we work with at Gilda's Club. We are so grateful to have her as a volunteer and look forward to continuing our work together for many years to come."
"I have known Kim Block professionally for more than 25 years. Her Building Blocks initiative is a natural extension of her core belief regarding the importance of the mind/body connection for optimizing learning and growth in young students. As a former classroom educator, Kim brings a sensitivity to the challenges teachers face when implementing new ideas and techniques. Her enthusiasm for supporting on their journey of knowledge and growth is completely imbedded in her instruction. Her mission to support the whole learner could not come at a better time."
"I met Kim Block during our Yoga Teacher's training in September 2019. Since then, we have practiced regularly every week. She is a nurturing, kind and insightful instructor. I love the way Kim has integrated her 27 years of teaching children with yoga and mindfulness. Her passion for teaching is evident in her planning lessons and workshops. Kim teaches in a soothing voice as she combines imagery with poses that immediately bring calmness to both body and mind. I am excited for her and have confidence that she will bring balanced instruction coupled with her experience as an educator and professionalism to her new endeavor."
